Hospital admitting privileges are the rights granted to a doctor by a hospital to admit patients to that particular hospital. The basic premise is that, if you need to go to the hospital, your primary care physician can admit you to the hospital that has granted them privileges. Admission is defined as allowing a patient to stay in a hospital for observation, investigation, treatment, and care. Admission is the entry of a patient into a hospital/ward for therapeutic or diagnostic purposes.
